A velvety, supple and fruity wine with a long-lasting finish and notes of black and purple fruits.
The most recent Merlot grape variety derives its name from the Occitan word ‘Merlau’, a word which means young blackbird (Merle). The birds are rather partial to these grapes. Up until the start of the 20th century, this variety was primarily cultivated in Bordeaux. It is very popular with amateur wine enthusiasts because it produces supple and fruity wines.
